Prof. Abid Yahya, Botswana International University of Science & Technology, Botswana visited University of Peradeniya on 24 April 2018 with the purpose of conducting meetings to initiate collaborative research with the relevant staff members related to his study area, Computer Science and Technology.

Consequently, separate meetings were held with Deputy Vice- Chancellor, UoP, Prof. H. M. T. G. A Pitawala, Director, Postgraduate Institute of Science, Dr. Amalka Pinidiyaarachchi, Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Science, Dr. Dhammika Elkaduwe, Department of Computer Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Prof. M.I.M. Mowjood, Department of Agricultural Engineering, Faculty of Agriculture.

At the meetings Prof. Abid Yahya briefed his intentions of developing collaborative projects with University of Peradeniya and the potential innovative work that could be implemented in the future.

A seminar on Scientific Writing and Publishing was held on 24 April 2018 at the PGIS Auditorium, University of Peradeniya by the visiting scholar Prof. Abid Yahya from Botswana International University of Science & Technology.

The seminar focused on the proper ways of writing and publishing research and scientific papers to the journals. The assembly consisted of more than 50 participants, including staff and students of University of Peradeniya. The event was collaboratively organized by the PGIS, Young Researchers Forum and the International Affairs Office, University of Peradeniya.
