International Relations Office

International Relations Office, University of Peradeniya together with Postgraduate Institute of Science, University of Peradeniya, organized an event, "Announcement of New Erasmus+ CBHE Projects - 2020" funded by the EU in Sri Lanka, on 10th September 2020 at New Conference Room, Postgraduate Institute of Science. The objective of this event is to announce the new Erasmus+ CBHE projects for year 2020 and to discuss about the relevant activities of all CBHE projects at University of Peradeniya.

The University of Peradeniya also invited all Sri Lankan participating institutions in nine different projects selected this year, to discuss horizontal issues in implementing those projects and explore possible synergies between projects. Prof. Upul B. Dissanayake, Vice-Chancellor, University of Peradeniya, Prof. S.H.P.P. Karunaratne, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, University of Peradeniya, Mr. Frank Hess, Head of Cooperation Section, Delegation of the European Union to Sri Lanka and Maldives, Mr. T.N. Hettiarachchi, Additional Secretary (Development), Ministry of Education, Prof. H.M.T.G.A. Pitawala, Director, PGIS, and many distinguished guests including Deans of Faculties, and all the CBHE project coordinators from University of Peradeniya as well as from other Universities of Sri Lanka graced this prestigious occasion.

Prof. Shameen Jinadasa, Director, International Relations Office, made the welcome address. Mr. Frank Hess, Head of Cooperation Section, Delegation of the European Union to Sri Lanka and Maldives, delivered a speech at the occasion. He congratulated all Sri Lankan partners and acknowledged the coordinating role played by the University. Prof. Upul B. Dissanayake, Vice-Chancellor, University of Peradeniya and Mr. T.N. Hettiarachchi, Additional Secretary (Development), Ministry of Education, also delivered speeches at the event. All the project coordinators of New Erasmus+ CBHE projects for year 2020 summarized their projects and shared their experience with the audience. Senior Prof. Anoma Abhayaratne, the first recipient of Erasmus+ CBHE projects, also highlighted on overview of Erasmus+ CBHE Projects at University of Peradeniya. A panel discussion, moderated by Prof. Upul B. Dissanayake, Vice-Chancellor, University of Peradeniya, was held at the end of the event.
