Delegates from Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS) visited University of Peradeniya during the period of 2 December 2019 – 13 December 2019. Overall objective of the visit was to strengthen already existing academic collaborations among the institutions through student exchange programs, scholarships and other research collaborations.

The first group of delegates led by Prof. Yang Min, Deputy Director General of Research Center for Eco-Environmental Science (RCEES) - CAS composed of 15 scholars from the RCEES - CAS, International Water Association and Guangdong Institute of Microbiology, China. The delegation carried out a special discussion with the Vice- Chancellor, Deputy Vice- Chancellor and Dean- Faculty of Engineering, University of Peradeniya. They also visited the Faculty of Engineering, University of Peradeniya and met with the Academic staff of the Faculty.

The second group of delegation was led by Prof. Yaping Zhang, Vice President of CAS. The team composed of 11 scholars from Research Center for Eco-Environmental Science – CAS, Beijing Center for Diseases Control and Prevention, Perking University First Hospital, and Fudan University.

The third group, led by Prof. Gang Su, Vice President of UCAS, Composed of four members from UCAS and RCEES-CAS. The delegation met with the Deputy Vice- Chancellor and Deans of Faculties, University of Peradeniya. A seminar was also conducted at the Seminar Room, Faculty of Engineering on the 13 December 2019, to introduce Postgraduate Study opportunities at University of Chinese Academy of Sciences. Dr Asela Kulatunga, Acting Dean, Faculty of Engineering welcomed the gathering. Prof. Gang Su addressed the gathering and Ms. Youquin Wang, Programme Coordinator, International Students Office presented on Postgraduate opportunities at UCAS and around 40 students participated for the seminar.
