7thInternational Conference on Sri Lanka – Japan Collaborative Research (SLJCR-2019)
24 August 2019International Affairs Office together with Postgraduate Institute of Science organized the International Conference on Sri Lanka – Japan Collaborative Research (SLJCR-2019) for the 7th consecutive year. The conference was held at the Postgraduate Institute of Science (PGIS), University of Peradeniya on 24 August, 2019.
His Excellency Akira Sugiyama, Ambassador of Japan in Sri Lanka, graced the event as the Chief Guest and Prof. Upul B Dissanayake, Vice- Chancellor, University of Peradeniya, Toshihiko Nakao, Japan and Prof. C.N.R.A. Alles; Co-Chairs SLJCR 2019 Sri Lanka, Prof. H.M.T.G.A. Pitawala, Director of PGIS, Prof. Susiji Wickramasinghe, Director of SLJSC, Dr. Shameen Jinadasa, Acting Director, IAO, Dr. Nanda Gunawardhana, Former Director, IAO, Prof. Yuji Murayama, University of Tsukuba of Japan, Prof. S. de Silva, Saga University, Japan, Prof. N.S. Cooray, International University of Japan, and Prof. Nayani Melegoda, University of Colombo marked their presence at the conference in addition to the Organizing Committee of SLJCR 2019.
SLJCR 2019 was attended by many distinguished guests, Deans of Faculties, Heads of Departments, Directors of Units and Centers of University of Peradeniya, academic/ non-academic members and students of the University of Peradeniya and staff members from other universities.
Encapsulating the theme of the 7th SLJCR 2019 was “Addressing Global Issues through Collaboration and partnership”, 42 presentations and the accepted papers were published in a special volume of proceedings with a CD and in an international standard book (ISSN 2579-2288).
The main objectives of creating a common platform to present, discuss and exchanging ideas on collaborative research between Sri Lanka and Japan, advocating, encouraging and creating an open dialogue between Sri Lankan and Japanese researchers on studies were achieved through the conference.
