Awareness Programme on Erasmus+
14 November 2019International Affairs Office, University of Peradeniya together with the Postgraduate Institute of Science (PGIS) organized an event to enlighten the University Academics about the European Union’s programme Erasmus+ on 14 November 2019 at the Auditorium of the Postgraduate Institute of Science, University of Peradeniya.
Erasmus+ is the European Union programme for education, training, youth and sport for the years 2014-2020 and beyond. The strong international dimension of Erasmus+ opens up immense opportunities for mobility and cooperation between the European Union and Partner Countries like Sri Lanaka. The Foremost focus of the programme was to share the knowledge on Erasmus+ Funding Programmes among the University Academics and also to inform the details of the call deadlines for proposals in 2020.
Dr. P.W.S.K. Bandaranayake welcomed the gathering. MR. Roshan Pradeep from the International Affairs Office, University of Peradeniya gave an overall introduction on the Erasmus+ Programme focusing on the four key actions, International Credit Mobility (ICM) of individuals, Capacity Building Projects in Higher Education (CBHE), Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters Degrees and Jean Monnet Activities. Prof. Anoma Abhayaratne shared her expertise on CBHE projects.
A panel discussion moderated by Dr. Nanda Gunawardhana was also held. Prof. Anoma Abhayaratne, Prof. Nimal Dharmasena, Prof. Pushpakanthie Wijekoon and Dr. Shameen Jinadasa participated as the panel members.
