Water Quality Monitoring
16 October 2020The Center for Environmental Studies (CES) together with the International Relations Office (InRO), University of Peradeniya organized a pre-conference webinar series in connection with the 2nd International Conference of the CES, "Environmental Monitoring and Management (EMM2020)”. The fourth webinar on “Water Quality Monitoring” was held on 16 October 2020 at 2.00 pm Sri Lanka (GMT+5:30).
Three eminent resource persons, Prof. Harsha Ratnaweera, Prof. Jianzhong He and Dr. Thushara Chaminda shared their expertise on water quality monitoring. Prof. Harsha Ratnaweera, a Professor in Water and Wastewater Technology at the Faculty of Science and Technology, Norwegian University of Life Sciences, Norway delivered the first talk on “Digitalization of the water sector: opportunities and challenges for environmental monitoring”. The second talk on “Coastal Water Quality Monitoring from Singleton to Mega-Omics” was delivered by Prof. Jianzhong He, an Associate Professor at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, National University of Singapore (NUS), Singapore. Dr. Thushara Chaminda, a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, University of Ruhuna, Sri Lanka delivered the third talk on “Concurrence of PPCPs and Antibiotic Resistant Bacteria (ARB) in Urban Waters of Sri Lanka”. The panel discussion was moderated by Dr. K.G.N. Nanayakkara, Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, University of Peradeniya. Around 110 participants have joined in for the webinar.
