Environmental Impact Assessment

The Center for Environmental Studies (CES) together with the International Relations Office (InRO), University of Peradeniya organized a pre-conference webinar series in connection with the 2nd International Conference of the CES, "Environmental Monitoring and Management (EMM2020)”. The third webinar on “Environmental Impact Assessment” was held on 15 October 2020 at 2.00 pm Sri Lanka (GMT+5:30).

Two eminent resource persons, Mrs. Kanthi De Silva and Prof. P. Wickramagamage shared their expertise on environmental impact assessment. Mrs. Kanthi De Silva, the Deputy Director General, Central Environmental Authority, Sri Lanka delivered the first talk on “Environmental Impact Assessment procedure in Sri Lanka”. The second talk on “Problems and challenges of Environmental Impact Assessment” was delivered by Prof. P. Wickramagamage, a Professor-Emeritus, Department of Geography, University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. The panel discussion was moderated by Dr. Nalani Hennayake, Department of Geography, Faculty of Arts, University of Peradeniya. Around 100 participants have joined in for the webinar
