International Relations Office

The Center for Environmental Studies (CES) together with the International Relations Office (InRO), University of Peradeniya organized a pre-conference webinar series in connection with the 2nd International Conference of the CES, "Environmental Monitoring and Management (EMM2020)”. The second webinar on “Advances in Wastewater Treatment” was held on 09 October 2020 at 2.00 pm Sri Lanka (GMT+5:30).

Two eminent resource persons, Prof. Ng Wun Jern and Prof. Yuansong Wei shared their expertise on wastewater treatment. Prof. Ng Wun Jern, a Professor and the President’s Chair in Civil & Environmental Engineering, School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Nanyang Technological University (NTU): Principal Lead, EBiG, Singapore delivered the first talk on “Issues and responses in wastewater treatment – today going to tomorrow”. The second talk on “The shortcut process of combining magnetic coagulation and sequence membrane bioreactor (SMBR) for treating high strength wastewater” was delivered by Prof. Yuansong Wei, a Professor, Director of Laboratory of Water Pollution Control Technology, Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences (RCEES), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), China. The panel discussion was moderated by Prof. M.I.M. Mowjood, Department of Agricultural Engineering, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. Around 200 participants have joined in for the webinar.
