International Relations Office

The Centre for Environmental Studies (CES) and Postgraduate Institute of Science (PGIS), together with International Relations Office (InRO) University of Peradeniya, organized the 2nd International Conference of Center for Environmental Studies, Environmental Monitoring and Management (EMM 2020) Conference on 23rd of October 2020 in the mode of a virtual conference.

The Inauguration Ceremony of the conference was held at the Postgraduate Institute of Science, University of Peradeniya which was broadcasted live to all the participants of the conference. Prof. Tilak Hewawasam, the conference Co-Coordinator made the welcome address. Prof. S.P. Nissanka, Director of the Centre for Environmental Studies gave and Introductory Speech on the Centre for Environmental Studies. Prof. Upul B. Dissanayake, Vice-Chancellor, University of Peradeniya and Dr. Anil Jasinghe, the Secretary to the Ministry of Environment, Sri Lanka also delivered speeches at this occasion. The keynote speech of the event was delivered by Dr. Ananda Mallawatantri, the IUCN country representative of Sri Lanka. Prof. Shameen Jinadasa, the Conference Co-Coordinator and the Director, International Relations Office, delivered the concluding remarks and the vote of thanks at the Inauguration Ceremony.

The oral presentations were successfully presented by authors via an online platform which was also broadcasted to the participants. An interesting panel discussion was also held at the end of every session of presentation.
