Second visit from Technical University of Cluj- Napoca, Romania

Prof. Rita Monica Toader, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Sciences and Prof. Diana Ighian, Director Department of Economics, University of Cluj- Napoca, Romania visited University of Peradeniya on 09 March 2018.

A discussion was carried out with Prof. Saluka Kodituwakku, Dean, Faculty of Science, Prof. Deepthi Yakandawala, Dr. K.M.G.G. Jayasuriya, Department of Botany, Faculty of Science and Prof. Rita Monica Toader and Prof. Diana Ighian, University of Cluj- Napoca, Romania. The discussion was focused on the status of the Romanian students studying at University of Peradeniya and how to improve the study backgrounds and such programs between the two institutions.

Also, Prof. Deepthi Yakandawala or Dr. K.M.G.G. Jayasuriya was invited to visit University of Cluj- Napoca, Romania through this program in the future and it was considered to continue the ERASMUS+ Student/ Staff Exchange programs for the year of 2018/19 as well.

As per the discussion held between Acting Dean, Faculty of Management, Dr. S. Maheshwaran, Department of Operations Management, Faculty of Management and Prof. Rita Monica Toader and Prof. Diana Ighian, the matter of expanding the existing ERASMUS+ programs for the Faculty of Management was taken into consideration. As a result the needful would be provided in relation for the Student and Staff Exchange programs in the years of 2018/19.

A special discussion was carried out with Director, IAO and Prof. Rita Monica Toader and Prof. Diana Ighian at the International Affairs Office in order to discuss the matters related to the collaborations between the two institutions.

Consequently, it was especially focused on how to improve and continue the research collaborations between University of Peradeniya and University of Cluj- Napoca, Romania in the future.

Meantime, it was emphasized on how to facilitate the students at the two institutions under the current exchange program and improve the quality of learning for their betterment.
