Talk on 'Accelerating Scientific Research with Machine Learning and AI'
11 April 2019Dr. Rukshan Batuwita, Data Scientist at Google conducted a talk on 'Accelerating Scientific Research with Machine Learning and AI' to the staff and students of UoP on 11 April 2019 at 1.00- 3.00 pm at the Chemistry Auditorium, Faculty of Science. International Affairs Office (IAO) and the Faculty of Science organized the talk and more than 100 participation marked the significance of the talk.
The talk provided a broad introduction on the interrelated fields of Machine Learning (ML), Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Data Science, covering major techniques/ algorithms, recent advancements and major application areas, specially, spotlighting accelerated scientific research in the areas of biology, medicine, chemistry, physics etc.
Also Dr. Batuwita enlightened the gathering with the information on publicly available tools and platform for ML, Data Science and AI, focusing on the Cloud platforms and the best practices to consider in the end to process of applying ML to solve real-world problems.
