JICA-Chair: 2nd Session

Topic: โ€œRenewable Energy Development (Hybrid Event)โ€

Japan is the first country that has modernized from a non-Western background to establish a free, democratic, prosperous, and peace-loving nation based on the rule of law, without losing much of its tradition and identity. The course captures some highlights of Japan's Modernization process.

The 2nd session of the JICA Chair Program on โ€œRenewable Energy Developmentโ€ organized by Sri Lanka - Japan Study Centre (SLJSC) of the University of Peradeniya in collaboration with the International Relations Office (InRO) of the University of Peradeniya, was held successfully on 30th November 2022 at Postgraduate Institute of Science. The event was graced by Prof. MD. Lamawansa, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Peradeniya as the Chief Guest. Mr. Yamada Tetsuya, Chief Representative, JICA Sri Lanka, Prof. HMTGA. Pitawala, the Director, Postgraduate Institute of Science, Prof. CNRA. Alles, the Director, InRO of University of Peradeniya, and other invited dignitaries were also in attendance.

Mr. Ogawa Tadayuki, JICA Senior Advisor delivered the keynote speech, followed by a panel discussion. The panelists were Prof. Ranjith Dissanayake,
Faculty of Engineering, University of Peradeniya, Prof. Malaka Ranathilaka, Faculty of Arts, University of Peradeniya and Mr. Ogawa Thadayuki, JICA Senior Advisor. Dr. Panduka Neluwala, the Director, Sri Lanka โ€“ Japan Study Centre, University of Peradeniya, moderated the panel discussion.
