Hilda Obesekar Hall is the first girls hostel in the Peradeniya campus. It is situated in a valley in between Sangamittha and Jemes Peries Hostels, adjoining to the Sarachandra Open Art Theater. It was created by Lady (Paul) Pieris in memory of her mother, Miss Hilda Obeyseraka and was opened in 1952. It was converted to a male hostel in 1972, but it was again converted to a girls hostel in 2009 because of increasing the number of female student population in the university.
