The World University Weightlifting Championship was held from 5th to 8th December 2014 in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

One of our weightlifters, H.D. Ruwan Sandaruwan of Faculty of Engineering participated for this grand event representing the Sri Lanka National University Weightlifting team. This 02nd year Engineering undergraduate competed in mens' under 56 Kg weight category. Altogether 04 student weightlifters participated in this World Tournament representing other state universities.

The Director of Physical Education, University of Peradeniya, Mr. Palitha Kumara was the Chief De Mission of Sri Lankan National University Weightlifting Team.
