Swimmers of University of Peradeniya showed glorious performances at the recently held Inter University Swimming Championships-2014 worked off at the Sugathadasa Swimming Pool Complex, Colombo 27th July, 2014. Our girls' team secured prestigious champions trophy while our boys team obtained the runner-up trophy at the tournament. University of Peradeniya undergraduate swimmers proved their supremacy in the field of swimming creating 08 Sri Lanka University swimming records at the competition. Our swimming sensation K.D.M.K. Weerathunge , 01st year student of bachelor of Business Administration, together with her own sister from faculty of Engineering, H.Y. Weerathunge created most of the records representing University of Peradeniya. H.Y. Weerathunge created new meet records for 50m Butterfly event & her sister K.D.M.K. Weerathunge created new meet records for 50m freestyle, 100m freestyle events. Another girl swimmer, D.M.H. Dissanayake also created a new meet record under 100m Breaststroke. University of Peradeniya girls' team created yet another two new meet records for 4x100m freestyle event & 4x100m Medley Relay event.

With this splendid performances shown at this major competition, University of Peradeniya Women's team emerged champion while the Men team secured the runner-up position and claimed the prestigious Overall Trophy for the Inter University Swimming Champions. University of Sri Jayewardenepura placed overall second and University of Colombo placed third
