Firefighting Training Programme

A Firefighting Training Programme was conducted on 30th June 2025 at the Post Graduate Institute of Agriculture Auditorium. The programme was organised for Sub Wardens and Hall Attendants of the Residential Halls, Management Assistants and Work Aids of the University Senate.

A First Aid Training session was conducted successfully on 30th June 2025 at the Post Graduate Institute of Agriculture Auditorium. The session was led by Mr. Chaminda Nuragoda, Fireman, Fire Brigade Kandy, who provided in-depth instruction and practical guidance on fire prevention and appropriate emergency response during a fire.

🎯 This programme aims to impart fundamental theoretical and practical knowledge on fire prevention, appropriate emergency response during a fire, and the correct operation of fire extinguishers.

A practical session on the proper use of fire extinguishers was conducted at the University Ground premises. The event was well-attended, with positive feedback from participants who appreciated the clear instructions, interactive approach, and relevance of the content.

This programme was organized by the University Safety Officer, Mr. Panduka Kamathewatta along with the General Services Division of the University as per the instructions of Professor Ranjith Pallegama, Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Professor J.K. Vidanarachchi, Chairman of the University Safety Committee. Further, mannequins for the hands-on demonstrations were generously supplied by the Department of Anesthesiology & Critical Care, Faculty of Medicine.
