About iPURSE
The University of Peradeniya has a well-established tradition of disseminating its dynamic research through its two flagship initiatives:
- iPURSE: Previously, iPURSE (Peradeniya University International Research Sessions) served as a key platform for consolidating faculty-level research dissemination under a unified banner. While it played a crucial role in the past, the research landscape has evolved. Today, faculty researchers have access to numerous faculty-level conferences, symposia, and postgraduate congresses to publish their work.
- PURES: On the other hand, PURES (Peradeniya University Research Exhibition Showcase) successfully unified all research exhibitions into a single, prominent event.
Given the current landscape with ample publication opportunities, it's time to redefine the purpose and format of iPURSE. This document outlines the details of the new iPURSE, designed to remain relevant and impactful in the ever-evolving research ecosystem.
The objective of iPURSE will be:
- To achieve enhanced visibility and branding - A coordinated platform will amplify the university's research output and attract wider participation.
- To promote cross-disciplinary synergies - Bringing diverse research areas together under iPURSE will foster multidisciplinary collaboration and knowledge exchange.
- To streamline resource allocation - By pooling resources, iPURSE can optimize logistical arrangements and enhance cost-effectiveness.
- To showcase the breadth and depth of research - A consolidated exhibition will provide a comprehensive overview of the university's research endeavours.
- To Facilitate public engagement - iPURES can attract the public and potential industry partners, fostering knowledge transfer and showcasing potential applications of research.
- To raise university profile - A large-scale research exhibition can boost the university's reputation and attract talented researchers and students.
