The SSS & WS of the University of Peradeniya was established based on
the UGC circular 933 under six broad categories to handle all the welfare
activities of the students. Its functions are mostly directed at optimizing
the quality and efficacy of the services provided by service divisions namely,
Student Services Division, Student Accommodation Division, Physical Education Department,
University Health Centre, Landscape Division, Maintenance Division, Security Division and the
Counselling Unit (CaPSU). Our mission is to ensure that every student at University of Peradeniya
has an enriching experience, regardless of their background or socioeconomic status. Thus, we offer a
diverse range of services and benefits to promote the physical and mental wellbeing of our students.
Following are the main services provided by the division.
• Handling all matters relating to student welfare.
• Improving the quality of student accommodation.
• Improving the quality of cafeteria service in hostels &faculties.
• Improving the quality of sports facilities and programs.
• Improving the curative and preventive health care services offered by the University Health Centre and CaPSU.
• Promoting student and staff social and cultural activities.
• Improving the landscape and salubrious environment of the university.
• Strengthening the scholarship.
A senior academic staff member serves as the Director of the unit,
who handles all the above activities under the Chairmanship of the Vice-Chancellor.
