University of Peradeniya won the overall gold award for its annual report and accounts– 2019 at the Best Annual Report Award Ceremony organized by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA) in association with the Association of Public Finance Accountants of Sri Lanka (APFASL) held on December 29, 2021 at the BMICH, Colombo. Hundreds of public entities including universities, provincial councils, research institutions and many other public sector organizations were the contenders. University of Peradeniya also bagged another gold award for its annual report and accounts – 2019 under the university category at the same event. Professor Terrence Madhujith representing the Vice-Chancellor and Ms. Kanchana Atapattu, Statistical Officer of the University received the awards on behalf of the university. The APFASL, which is the public sector wing of the CA conducts the award competition with the prime objective of helping improve the quality of annual reports and accounts issued by the public sector organizations thereby enhancing transparency, accountability and good governance practices.
