Research, fueled by curiosity is what propels humanity forward. University of Peradeniya has been recognized as the Sri Lankan university with the highest contribution toward research. This is evidenced by the fact that university has been ranked between 401 and 500 by the Times Higher Education ranking for the third consecutive time, the highest institutional h index based on Google Scholar, among others.
The University recently embarked on recognizing the most outstanding researchers who have contributed immensely towards uplifting research and as a result, the researchers who are eligible for Tier 4* based on the transparent research performance scheme stipulated in the UGC circular 05/2018 were recognized recently. The awarding ceremony was held in line with the closing session of the iPURSE on November 12, 2021 where 28 most outstanding researchers from seven faculties were recognized. The awardees were selected by calling applications for the year 2020.
