His Excellency, Mr. Gopal Baglay, the High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka visited the University of Peradeniya on November 27th, 2021. His Excellency was accompanied by Dr. Sushil Kumar, the First Secretary (Technical Cooperation) & Head of Chancery, High Commission of India in Colombo, and Dr. S. Aritha, the Assistant High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka.

The High Commissioner was welcomed by Prof. M.D. Lamawansa, the Vice-Chancellor, University of Peradeniya. Prof. Terrence Madujith, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, University of Peradeniya, Professor S.J.S. de Mel, the Director, Postgraduate Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences (PGIHS) and Prof. C.N.R.A. Alles, the Director, International Relations Office. The Vice-Chancellor discussed the close relationship between the two countries and the possible collaborations between India and the University of Peradeniya. Possible future collaborations including research and academic exchange were discussed at the brief meeting. His Excellency, Gopal Baglay conveyed his greetings to the University of Peradeniya and expressed his interest in consolidating a strong relationship with the university.
