The Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to Sri Lanka, His Excellency Andrés Marcelo González Garrido and Mrs. Garrido visited the University of Peradeniya on 26th of March 2022. The Ambassador was welcomed by Prof. M.D. Lamawansa, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Terrence Madhujith, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, and Prof. N. Alles, The Director, International Relations Office of the University of Peradeniya. The Ambassador highlighted the visit of Mr. José Antonio Echeverria a Cuban revolutionary and a student leader to the International Student Congress held at the University of Peradeniya in 1956. The Vice-Chancellor discussed about possible collaborations between the equal universities in Cuba and the University of Peradeniya. His Excellency Andrés Marcelo González Garrido conveyed his greetings to the University of Peradeniya and expressed his interest in consolidating strong collaborations with the university.
