University students who successfully completed the course on Career Development conducted by the Career Guidance Unit (CGU) of the University of Peradeniya were awarded certificates on December 22, 2021 at CGU premises.

This was a three month-long program formulated targeting the first and second year university students. The syllabus and course modules have been developed by the University Grants Commission in accordance with the commission circular no 934. The course was offered from July 15th to September 15th 2021 and covered 60 hours. Introduction to career development, effective transition from school to the university, the role of the undergraduate, programming for future success, the best career opportunities available for students within and outside the university, effective study skills and motivated goal – directed learning, and personal organization and life management were some of the key areas covered during the program.

The certificate awarding was graced by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University of Peradeniya Prof. Terrence Madhujith and Director of the Career Guidance Unit Prof. Nimal Dharmasena. The Career Counselors at CGU Ms. Sumudu Lankathilake and Mr. Suchinthana Dasun and few selected participants participated in the event.
