Hon. Minister of Education Prof. G.L. Peiris and the Chairman of the University Grants Commission Prof. Sampath Amarathunga visited University of Peradeniya on 20th September 2020. Following a presentation made by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Upul B. Dissnayake on the progress and the way forward of the University, a special discussion was held between Hon Minister, Chairman UGC, Vice-Chancellor, Deputy Vice-Chancellor and all the Deans of the faculties. Hon. Minister agreed to give a special attention towards developing two teaching hospitals come under the Faculty of Dental Sciences and the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine & Animal Science.

Quality of the present undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs, career counselling for undergraduates, uplifting facilities for students, requirements for additional students' intake were among the topics taken for discussion. Both the Hon. Minister and the Chairman of the UGC were impressed about the progress of the university & the global ranking that the university maintains.
