His Excellency Dr. Sushil Kumar, the First Secretary (Technical Cooperation) & Head of Chancery, High Commission of India in Colombo visited University of Peradeniya on October 28th. First Secretary was accompanied by Dr. S. Aritha, the Assistant High Commissioner of India

The main objective of the visit was to develop research collaboration between University of Peradeniya and Indian universities and research institutes especially in the field of agriculture. He highlighted the importance of finding solutions to the ongoing issues in agriculture through collaborative work. Further, it was decided to organize monthly webinars for the staff and students conducted by the scholars/ scientists from India to address the current issues and topics related to the field of agriculture in Sri Lanka. Prof. Terrence Madhujith, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, University of Peradeniya, Prof. Gamini Pushpakumara, Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, Prof. Neil Alles, Director, International Relations Office and Heads of the Departments of Faculty of Agriculture had participated in the Meeting.
