The Dean of the Faculty of Arts, the Head of the Department of Archaeology and the staff members visited the students during the training. Furthermore, they have developed team work skills and enjoyed the programme to the fullest. As one of them mentioned, it was the second time she saw the sea and thus it was an unforgettable experience for them who were mostly limited to their homes during the pandemic. While Dr. Prabath Ekanayake, the Dean of the Faculty of Arts congratulated the students, Prof. Ananda Jayawickrama, the Head of the Department of Archaeology stressed the need of having more practical components in the degree programme to produce good filed archaeologists required for the state service in order to preserve the country's national heritage. The group of students thanked the University and Central Cultural Fund for funding, facilitating and conducting a fruitful programme. A short video produced by the students has been uploaded to the university website which share their experience at Fort Frederick with other students, academics and wider community.
