The University of Peradeniya has been ranked among the world’s top 501-600 Universities and the number one university in Sri Lanka for the 4^th consecutive years according to THE University Rankings 2023. The THE World University Ranking is one of the largest and most comprehensive rankings in the world. THE World University ranking 2023 includes 1799 universities from 104 countries and territories, based on 13 performance metrics that assess an institution's performance in four different categories: Teaching, Research, Knowledge Transfer, and International Outlook.

This year’s ranking analyzed more than 121 million citations over 15.5 million research publications and comprised survey responses from nearly 40,000 academics internationally. It assesses how the environment of higher education around the world is changing.
