The Bamboo Tree Planting Program was launched by Sarasavi Medura Hall at the University of Peradeniya, in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Mahaweli Authority, on 20th January 2023.
Sarasavi Medura Hall, which was established in September 2019, stands out as one of the newest girls' hostels in the university. Comprising two four-story buildings known as Sarasavi Medura 01 and Sarasavi Medura 02, the hostel accommodates a total of 100 rooms each. Currently, it provides a peaceful and welcoming environment for approximately 752 young girls hailing from different parts of the country. These girls, who are pursuing their studies in the nine faculties of the university, find solace in the peaceful and welcoming environment of the hostel, as they are living away from their own homes.

The Musical Evening held at Sarasavi Medura Hall was genuinely unforgettable as it featured mesmerizing performances showcasing our residents' incredible talents.
Sarasavi Medura Hall was founded on March 12, 2017. After careful preparations, the hall was officially opened to students in September 2019. Prof. Muditha Karunarathna had the honor of being the first warden of the hall, while Ms. Renuka Gangodathenna served as the acting sub-warden, providing valuable support to the warden and the residents.
Amidst the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the hostel played a crucial role in supporting public health efforts. It was temporarily converted into a quarantine center, offering essential facilities and care for those affected by the virus, contributing significantly to the community's well-being.
In December 2022, the hostel was able to resume its primary function as a place of accommodation for students. Once again, Sarasavi Medura Hall became a vibrant part of the university community, providing a conducive environment for students to engage in various activities and personal growth initiatives.
The resilience and adaptability shown by Sarasavi Medura Hall throughout these trying times demonstrate its commitment to serving its residents and fulfilling its role as an essential component of the University of Peradeniya.

Sarasavi Medura Hall University of Peradeniya is delighted to share the success of its first hall night held on the 2nd of February, 2024.
This historic event unfolded in its vibrant garden, nestled on the right bank of the Mahaweli River, adding an extra layer of glamour to the celebration.
During this memorable evening, the residents of Sarasavi Medura Hall unveiled a showcase of their diverse talents. From soulful singing to lively dancing and more, a vibrant tapestry of skills was revealed, creating a rich and dynamic display. The atmosphere came alive with a harmonious blend of musical and rhythmic expressions, making the night truly extraordinary.
Filled with vibrant colors, laughter, and unforgettable moments, the night will stay in the memories of all who were present. Sarasavi Medura Hall extends heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to making this inaugural celebration a resounding success.

The club unite to exchange insights, derive mutual learning, and cultivate a more profound comprehension of their shared cultural endeavors.
The gardening club at Sarasavi Medura hall is a passionate and engaged group of individuals who are committed to the art of cultivating plants and nurturing the green spaces that grace the community. This club serves as a hub for residents who share a love for gardening, landscaping, and the natural beauty that flourishes within their living environment.
Three students are accommodating in each room. There are three beds attached with three tables and cupboards. Each floor contains two bath units which consists of 6 bath showers and 5 toilets. Four tea pantries are located in each hall. Two study areas are located at the ground floor.
