Career Guidance Program for School Students from Nuwaraeliya Divisional Secretariat
The Career Guidance Unit (CGU) organized a unique career guidance program for 50+ students from the Devon and Patana Area program of World Vision representing 15 plantation estates covering 16 GN divisions in Nuwaraeliya Divisional Secretariat as per the request made by World Vision.
The program took place on 9th June 2023 in the Seminar room of the CGU. The program’s objective is to educate the children and provide them with exposure to formal education and career development.
The program was conducted by Ms. Shumla Nawas, visiting lecturer at the Department of Psychology, Faculty of Arts, University of Peradeniya. Mr. Shaveen Kumar a final-year student of the Faculty of Management joined the program to share his experience with the school students.
The program concluded with a small tour of the University premises guided by Mr. Thisal Athapaththu , Mr. Pavan Rajapaksha, and Mr. Hasaranga Jayaweera from the Faculty Engineering of the University of Peradeniya. The program was guided under the supervision of Mr. Suchinthana Dasun Career Counsellor of the University of Peradeniya.
