University students who successfully completed the course on Career Development conducted by the Career Guidance Unit (CGU) of the University of Peradeniya were awarded certificates on January 30, 2023 at CGU premises.
This was a three-month-long program formulated targeting first and second-year university students. The syllabus and course modules have been developed by the University Grants Commission in accordance with the commission circular no 934. The course was offered from September 1st to November 23rd 2022 and covered 60 hours with four practical sessions. Introduction to career development, an effective transition from school to the university, the role of the undergraduate, programming for future success, the best career opportunities available for students within and outside the university, effective study skills and motivated goal-directed learning, and personal organization and life management were some of the key areas covered during the program.
The certificate awarding was graced by Prof. Terrence Madhujith, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University of Peradeniya and Director of the Career Guidance Unit Prof. Dileep De Silva, The Career Counselors at CGU Ms. Sumudu Lankathilake and Mr. Suchinthana Dasun and few selected participants participated in the event.
