Hantana Vision Article Types

Research Briefs (200 – 500 words, 1-3 images)

 

This should be based on a published research article from a study. The title should be descriptive (not the exact title appeared on the paper) and should generate interest among the readers. The contents of the article may include details about the author/s and the key findings of the study should be written in simple language which can be easily grasped by the general public. The article, which the Research Brief based on, should be a recently published article (preferably within two years from the current date) in an indexed, peer-reviewed journal. The full citation and the DOI link of the research paper should be given at the end of the article.

Research Features (1000 – 1500 words, 3 – 6 images)

 

The article summarizes the work of a research group. The title should be short and indicate the area of research. The article may include the details of the research group including its members, goals, key findings over the years and what impact it has made to the society in general. May include 3 to 6 images, one of them could be the cover image for the article. With the article, a separate write up with a word limit of 100-150 should also be provided to use as the cover story. Full citations and DOI link/links related to the study and reported in the feature article should be included.

News (up to 150 words, 1 image)

 

These are short write-ups about orations, other ceremonies conducted at the University of Peradeniya, inventions, products/services, success stories of university-private sector partnerships, honours received by the staff / students, research grants, visiting scholars, collaborations etc.

Book Review (200 – 500 words, Book cover image and author(s) image)

 

A brief commentary on a published book authored by an academic of the University of Peradeniya. The review must not be written by the author him/herself but by someone on the request of the author or a member of the Editorial Board. Should include the cover page of the book and an image of the author.

Opinion Articles (1000 – 1500 words, 3 – 6 images)

 

This is an account on a topic of interest written by an experienced researcher/scholar. When submitting an opinion article, a short description about the author should also be provided.

Picture Articles (100 – 200 words, 10 images)

 

The centerfold would be a research article presented using images (A story told in pictures). Should be colorful and eye-catching with minimum text. Full citations and DOI links related to the study should also be provided.

Dialogue Articles (1000 – 1500 words, 3 – 6 images)

 

An article based on a discussion between an interviewer and an interviewee on a prior approved subject. The interviewee should be a well renowned scholar previously attached to the University of Peradeniya. Suggestions for the interviewee can be forwarded to the International Relations Office (secretaryinrc@pdn.ac.lk) or to the Faculty Representative but the final decision will be taken by the Editorial Board.

Letter to Editor (600 – 700 words, 1-2 images)

 

A critique on any article that was published on a previous issue of Hantana Vision Magazine

Young_Resercher (500 – 600 words, Photographs of the researcher and 1-2 images related)

 

About research achievements of a young academic/ new recruit (joined within 2 years after the degree). Should include a photograph of the researcher and 1-2 images related to his/her achievements.
